The opening ceremony of NOIC Academy (School Year 2019/2020) was held on Oct. 1st, 2019 in the century-old Hart House of the University of Toronto.
At 9:30 am, the opening ceremony officially commenced. Mr. Roy Huang, CEO of NOIC Academy and Principal, Tim Yawney, presented their speeches to welcome new students of the school year. Since the opening ceremony was timed to coincide with the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Huang and Mr. Yawney wished all the Chinese guests, colleagues and students a happy National Day.
Among the distinguished guests, there were Mr. Han Dong, former Member of Ontario Provincial Parliament, candidate for the federal Liberal nomination in Don Valley North; Superintendent Neil Corrigan, Co-Chair of Chief’s Chinese Consultative Committee, Toronto Police Service; Mr. Xiaobo Li, Liaison Officer of Chinese Community -Toronto Police Service; Ms. Donna Daly, Vice President of IELTS Centre in Toronto; Mr. Ezio Crescenzithe, member of NOIC Academy Advisory Board and former CEO of York School. Mr. Sun Tao, Vice President of New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc., CEO of Beijing New Oriental Vision Overseas Consulting Co. Ltd, alongside the team of executive directors from Vision Overseas, also attended the opening ceremony.
Mr. Rongfeng (Roy) Huang introduced how NOIC Academy has developed since its establishment, made great achievements in the field of secondary education, and drawn up a blueprint for future development. With school facilities getting fully upgraded, he called upon newly enrolled students to strive even harder, making the most of the spacious classrooms, full-featured indoor gymnasium, large library, well-maintained sports ground and other facilities. Not only should they set specific learning goals and achieve academic excellence, they should also get regular exercise and bring fitness to the next level so as to become well-rounded individuals. Meanwhile, he said the new campus would greatly facilitate the daily teaching tasks of the school, and serve as a base for global online teaching, research and development, and other academic-related activities. He also mentioned the school is committed to improving cooperation with and integration to world’s top educational resources, including Cambridge International Examinations, Eton College, former leadership from IBO, and key education specialists. It follows that the new education research and development center will become an international innovation hub of city of Markham and a top education center in North America, which contributes to providing better global education resources for students with higher expectations for quality education in China, North America and around the world.

NOIC’s New Campus
Mr. Jeffrey Beard, Chairman of NOIC Academy Advisory Board and former Director General of IBO, Mr. Michael Yu, founder and CEO of New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc., Mr. Tony Little, former Head Master of Eton College, Ms. Ann Puntis, former CEO of Cambridge International Examinations, sent their best wishes for the new campus and a fruitful new school year via videos.
Mr Rongfeng Huang extended wpecial appreciation to Mr. Yu Minhong, the founder and chairman of New New Oriental Education Technology Group . His strategic investment in the new campus laid a solid foundation for the long-term development of the school’s international education research and development center.
At the very outset of this new academic year, the Founder and CEO of New Oriental Education & Technology Group, Michael Yu, sent us his warm greetings and best wishes through a video. He congratulated NOIC Academy on our recent relocation to the new campus. Envisioning a brighter future for NOIC Academy in both the Canadian and international educational arena, Yu encouraged all staff members of the Academy to continue to provide high-quality educational services for our IB Dipolma program, OSSD and global online programs. With the newly added facilities, he also expressed his complete faith in NOIC Academy’s capacity to deliver world-class scholarship, nurture high-performing students for universities and become a first-tier international secondary school.

Student Council Election
Election for Student Council also took place during the ceremony. The candidates campaigning for office took the floor to give their speeches and students had the opportunity to vote anonymously for their Student Council members. The vote casting process was then followed by a group photo session.

After the lunch at Hart House, students took a tour of the University of Toronto campus to explore different departments and faculties and get a first-hand feel for the university life in North America.
